Don’t Eat Naked Carbs

How Vinegar, Fermented Foods and Lemon Juice can help weight loss

The hormone insulin is one of the main drivers of obesity. While the amount of carbohydrates plays a big role in insulin effect, (which is why low carb diets can be very effective), it is not the ONLY factor affecting insulin secretion.

In previous articles, we’ve discussed

- Reducing the number of carbohydrates

- Eating more fiber (reducing net carbs)

- Changing the types of carbohydrates — the higher the glycemic index, the higher the rise in glucose and insulin

- Eating the carbs last (food order) — eating proteins and veggies first

Eating carbohydrates together with certain other foods also has the beneficial effect of lowering the glucose and insulin spikes. We’ll consider these foods impact the glycemic index:

- Vinegar

- Dairy

- Olive oil and Butter

- Soy
